Iluka zircon production increased by 11.6% in 2018
Iluka Resources, an ore sand miner, announced a 22% increase in revenue in 2018, as zircon prices increased by 41% from the previous year.
Iluka announced on Friday that although sales were down 7% from 2017 to 827,000 tons, the revenue of zircon, rutile and synthetic rutile in 2018 exceeded A$1.24 billion.
The annual zircon production increased by 11.6% to 348 600 tons, while rutile production decreased by 46% to 163 200 tons, and synthetic rutile production increased by 4.3% to 220,000 tons.
Zircon sales reached 379,300 tons, down 0.3%, while rutile sales fell 11.8% to 233,200 tons, and synthetic rutile sales fell 12.2% to 215,000 tons.
Among them, Iluka consumed 30,700 tons of zircon in 2018, which was lower than the consumption of 68,100 tons of zircon in 2017.
