LYDD Invited to Attend the "Kenya-China High-Level Investor" Roundtable
On the morning of April 23, during the state visit of H.E. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, to China, the Kenyan Ministry of Trade and Industry held the "Kenya-China High-Level Investor" Roundtable in Beijing. Representatives from relevant Chinese and Kenyan government departments, business associations, institutions, and enterprises attended the meeting. As a leading enterprise in the agricultural e-commerce sector, LYDD was invited to participate. Chen Ying, President Advisor of LYDD, attended the meeting as the company's representative, engaging in discussions with Kenyan government officials, business representatives, and China-Africa investment institutions on new opportunities for agricultural cooperation, aiming to elevate China-Kenya economic and trade collaboration to a higher level.

President Ruto attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. He noted that Kenya's economy has grown rapidly in recent years, with its GDP rising to the sixth-highest in Africa by 2024. Leveraging its strategic geographical advantages, Kenya is an important partner in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The two countries have achieved remarkable results in connectivity projects such as ports and railways. In the future, Kenya is willing to further deepen cooperation with China to accelerate modernization in manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, and new energy sectors.
Kenya is one of the largest economies in East Africa, with agriculture accounting for over 30% of its GDP. The country primarily exports cash crops such as tea, coffee, and flowers, but still faces challenges in achieving food self-sufficiency. As one of the world's largest importers of agricultural products, China has strong complementary potential with Kenya in grain trade and agricultural technology cooperation. With the deepening of the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Africa agricultural collaboration is entering a fast-track phase.
This roundtable provided LYDD and other Chinese enterprises with an opportunity for direct dialogue with the Kenyan government and businesses, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.
