Riding the Waves of Cross-Border Blue Ocean, Tracing the Roots of Coffee —IBI LYDD's Global Expedition Embarks on a Quality Journey to Explore the Origins of the Coffee Industry
LYDD Coffee Industry Chain General Manager Sun Zheng conducted an in-depth inspection and research tour to Saudi Arabia in the Middle East, as well as Ethiopia and Uganda in Africa. The trip focused on two core categories—coffee and cocoa—comprehensively exploring new opportunities for global coffee industry collaboration, from plantation farms and processing factories to international trade hubs and end consumer markets. The LYDD delegation visited tropical rainforest farms for on-site investigations and held in-depth exchanges with local farmers, cooperatives, and processing enterprises, laying a solid foundation for LYDD's international strategic expansion.
The delegation’s first stop was a return visit to the Saudi Coffee Company in Saudi Arabia. Established in May 2022 by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Saudi Coffee Company is part of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" initiative, which aims to achieve economic diversification and sustainable development. The LYDD team toured coffee plantations, under-construction factories, and ports in the Jizan region, and held discussions with company executives at the Saudi Coffee Company headquarters in Riyadh to explore future collaboration. Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, is globally renowned for its premium varieties such as Yirgacheffe and Sidamo. The LYDD delegation visited major coffee-producing regions and processing plants in Ethiopia, inspected planned coffee centers and industrial parks, and exchanged ideas with partners on cultivation, processing, and trade cooperation.
Uganda, hailed as the "Pearl of Africa," welcomed the delegation for meetings with local cloud factories and government authorities to discuss expanding the scale and scope of cooperation, reaching consensus on future directions. Building on this, the team ventured into key production areas for coffee, cocoa, and palm oil, while also investigating the production and market conditions of grains, food, feed, and agrochemical products in Uganda, achieving fruitful results.
This cross-border journey was a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of the industry for LYDD. From the source cultivation of coffee and cocoa to processing, end consumer markets, and potential development of specialty resources, detailed investigations and research were conducted. This will not only help LYDD further refine its coffee industry chain layout and strengthen cooperation with premium coffee-producing regions like Uganda to introduce more high-quality resources, but also enable precise adjustments to product strategies based on the demand characteristics of international markets such as the Middle East, thereby enhancing product quality and competitiveness. In the future, LYDD will bring consumers more premium, delicious, and distinctive products while contributing to the global coffee industry's development, fostering communication and synergy across different sectors and regions.
