Jiangyin Maritime Authorities Fully Escort the Public for Safe River Crossing
On September 30, as the National Day holiday approaches, public demand for crossing the river is being released intensively, and the Jiangyin area is seeing a surge in ferry passenger and vehicle traffic. To fully ensure the safe and orderly water ferry operations, the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration adheres to the principle of "safety as the foundation, service for the people," coordinating safety supervision measures and convenience services to build a comprehensive ferry safety protection network, ensuring a safe and smooth water travel experience for the public.

It is understood that during the holiday period, the Jiangyin car ferry is expected to transport 44,500 vehicles, 63,000 passengers, and operate 2,960 trips, with peak travel days anticipated on September 30 and October 7. Daily ferry volume is expected to see a significant increase compared to regular days, increasing safety supervision pressure.
Prior to the National Day holiday, the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration focused on ferry operation risks at their source, completing comprehensive special safety inspections on the nine ferries operating in the jurisdiction. They systematically identified and rectified shortcomings in both the software and hardware of the vessels. Leveraging the risk and hazard identification and rectification "daily point check" mechanism, they conducted large-scale investigations of systemic ferry safety risks, strictly enforced the "discover—rectify—cancel" closed-loop management system, and identified and addressed 31 types of safety hazards. Related companies were urged to complete rectifications within a specified timeframe, ensuring ferries do not operate with safety issues during the holiday, thereby solidifying the foundation for ferry operation safety from its source.
"The Maritime Safety Department has comprehensively strengthened the allocation of regulatory forces for key ferry routes and critical time periods, arranging daily patrol boats to be stationed on-site, and enforcement personnel to initiate onboard safety supervision tasks, fully ensuring the safety of citizens' water travel," said Li Meng, Director of the Ship Supervision Division at the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration.
Additionally, the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Department relies on the smart maritime platform and AI intelligent monitoring and warning system to conduct 24-hour remote intelligent patrols on ferries within the jurisdiction. The system automatically identifies and warns against risk behaviors such as crew members using mobile phones inappropriately during navigation or accidental falls overboard. This pushes the regulatory model from passive responses to proactive warnings. They fully utilize the passenger ship enhanced safety control system, enforcing accountability for safety management at the enterprise level, ensuring safety pressures are transmitted to the front lines. This achieves a complementary balance between online remote supervision and offline on-site enforcement, continually improving the accuracy and efficiency of ferry regulation. With technological advancements, a robust safety barrier is built for public water travel.
During the National Day holiday, the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration will closely monitor the ferry operation safety situation throughout the holiday period, continually implementing various regulatory and service measures, fully safeguarding ferry operation safety and stability, and ensuring the public has a safe and convenient crossing experience.
