In February, China's logistics operation was stable and slowed down. After the holiday, the resumption of work and production was promoted in an orderly manner.
China News Service, Beijing, March 9 (Reporter Ruan Yulin) The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released data on the 9th showing that in February, China's logistics industry prosperity index was 47.5%, down 3.7 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a steady slowdown in China's logistics operations.
Liu Yuhang, Director of the China Logistics Information Center, believes that due to factors such as holidays, the effective working days in February were significantly reduced compared to previous years, and market activity slowed steadily. However, during the holiday period, logistics continued to strengthen its support for the stable operation of the national economy.
Among the main indicators, the business volume index and new order index declined. In February, logistics service prices generally remained low, with the logistics service price index falling by 0.1 percentage points month-on-month. The main business cost index fell by 0.3 percentage points month-on-month, reflecting a slowdown in the rate of cost increase. The main business profit index fell by 0.4 percentage points month-on-month. In February, seasonal factors had a certain impact on business activities, but overall profitability remained stable, and the stabilization of micro vitality provided stable support for the comprehensive recovery of demand in the later period.
Hu Han, Deputy Chief Economist of the China Logistics Information Center, believes that after the Spring Festival holiday ended in late February, the actual start of work and employee attendance rate were slightly lower than the same period in previous years. However, according to the survey, enterprises' market expectations are optimistic, and the business activity expectation index in February remained in the expansion range. The upstream and downstream sectors of supply chain and logistics demand started orderly, with the capacity of bulk commodities, smelting and chemical, and equipment manufacturing steadily recovering, and cross-border e-commerce, express delivery, and instant delivery orders accelerating their rebound.
Hu Han believes that looking ahead, China will continue to maintain its advantage as a super-large-scale market, and at the national level, efforts will be intensified in promoting investment, expanding domestic demand, and stabilizing foreign trade, thereby steadily enhancing logistics demand. The supply chain and logistics are steadily improving and have a solid foundation for quality enhancement. (End)
