Shanghai Port Refreshes Single Day and Night Box Volume Record

On August 1, the container throughput of Shanghai Port in a single day set a new historical record, reaching 203,881 TEUs. Among them, the first shift of container operations achieved 71,728 TEUs, setting a record for a single shift. This fully demonstrates the strong production resilience of a world-class hub port and continues to enhance the reputation of Shanghai as an international shipping center.

In July, Typhoon "Bavi" made a strong impact, causing approximately four days of disruption to vessel operations at Shanghai Port due to extreme adverse weather conditions. After the typhoon passed, a large number of feeder and trunk line vessels that had sought shelter arrived at the port simultaneously, leading to berth congestion and accumulated container volumes. This posed severe challenges to terminal production organization, vessel dispatching, and yard turnover. Shanghai International Port Group coordinated operations to handle the feeder and trunk line vessels and restore port capacity. Since the full recovery of port operations on July 14, the group's terminals have worked collaboratively, frontline workers have remained steadfast at their posts, and shifts have battled tirelessly, ensuring the port operates at full capacity and high efficiency. During the recovery phase, Shanghai Port's average daily container throughput stabilized at 172,000 TEUs, with production efficiency steadily improving.
