China’s Transportation, IT, and Energy authorities have jointly released the 'Inland New Energy Ships Promotion Action Plan (2026–2030)', aiming to redefine industrial, energy, and transportation structures. The initiative focuses on expanding the application of inland electric and methanol-powered vessels, building comprehensive supply chains, and achieving high development standards. By 2025, China plans to have over 1,200 clean energy vessels in operation. Goals for 2028 include doubling the number of new energy ships, establishing green shipping corridors, and creating zero-carbon transport pathways spanning 3,000 kilometers. The plan sets 11 key tasks to drive innovation, improve infrastructure, and enforce sustainability standards, with a vision for scaled deployment by 2030.
