At the sub-forum of "Integrated Development of Communication and Energy and Building a Green Future" at the 2026 annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia, Ni Zhen, chairman of China Energy Construction Group Co., Ltd., pointed out that with the gradual promotion of electrification of household commercial vehicles, the electricity substitution of road freight vehicles will become the next important development area during the 15th five-year Plan period. Road freight vehicles currently account for nearly 70% of the total traffic emissions. Its electrification can not only greatly reduce carbon emissions, but also reduce energy operating costs by 8% to 15%, which has significant environmental and economic benefits. However, Ni Zhen also mentioned that the electric substitution in the shipping field is still facing certain obstacles at the economic level, and it is expected to be in the initial development period during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. This analysis highlights the key role of transportation and energy integration in driving the green transition and provides clear guidance on the key direction of transportation emission reduction in the next five years.
