Yangpu Maritime escorts the safe docking of the inaugural vessel on the "Nanning-Yangpu, Hainan" direct inland-sea shipping route.
On September 16, the monumental Pinglu Canal officially opened for navigation, and the "Nanning-Hainan Yangpu" river-sea direct shipping route simultaneously launched its maiden voyage. The inaugural vessel, "Guangxing 798," departed from the Liujing operation area of Nanning Port, traveled south along the Pinglu Canal, passed through Qinzhou Port, and safely docked at Yangpu International Container Terminal at 11:49 a.m. on the 18th. The successful maiden voyage of the new route signifies the official activation of the "dual-direction dual-hub" southern interface of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. Yangpu Port, Beibu Gulf Port, and the Pinglu Canal have achieved full integration of "port-bay-river," which will drive comprehensive upgrades in Yangpu's container shuttle shipping capacity, river-rail-sea intermodal container volume, and the frequency of international shipping vessel entries and exits.

The "Guangxing 798" is a specialized river-sea cargo vessel designed for waterway transportation, with a total length of 84 meters, a width of 18 meters, and a draft of 4 meters. It meets the dual requirements of navigating narrow inland waterways and conducting near-sea operations. For this maiden voyage, the vessel was fully loaded with local Guangxi goods, including Yufeng Cement, Hanggui Stone, and Hongshi Clinker, which will be unloaded at Yangpu International Container Terminal.

To ensure high-quality support for the maiden voyage vessel's port docking operations, the Yangpu Maritime Safety Administration planned ahead and deployed resources proactively, strictly implementing a "one ship, one plan" special support scheme. Relying on a three-dimensional escort system of "patrol boats + drones + electronic navigation," and utilizing the VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) system for dynamic tracking, the administration conducted real-time monitoring of the maiden voyage vessel throughout its journey. By continuously assessing the navigational environment of the inbound and outbound channels, closely monitoring all critical stages of the vessel's docking process, and employing precise on-site control and remote intelligent supervision, they ensured the "Guangxing 798" completed its docking operations safely and efficiently.

To meet the long-term development needs of the new corridor, the Yangpu Maritime Safety Administration has simultaneously introduced a series of innovative institutional measures to enhance the quality and efficiency of the Pinglu Canal river-sea intermodal transport channel. First, in collaboration with the Qinzhou Maritime Safety Administration, Chongqing Maritime Safety Administration, and others, they established a cross-regional coordination and credit supervision mechanism. By moving container cargo inspections to the source of loading, they achieved "one-time inspection, regional mutual recognition, and seamless container transit," reducing the container inspection rate for local enterprises by 20%-30% and shortening the port detention time for inspected containers by 35%. Second, they continuously strengthened port navigation support, achieving normalized two-way navigation for 30,000-ton vessels in both domestic and foreign sections of Yangpu Port's channel. They plan to steadily advance the construction of two-way navigation capacity for 50,000-ton vessels based on the vessel traffic volume after the Pinglu Canal's opening. Third, for the transportation of key livelihood materials, they opened a "four-direct" green channel, implementing priority approval, piloting, and docking policies to ensure immediate berthing and fast loading and unloading.
A relevant official from the Yangpu Maritime Safety Administration stated: "Next, we will continue to optimize navigation supervision efficiency and the quality of government services, focusing on reducing approval burdens, mutual recognition of supervision, and improving navigation efficiency. We will make every effort to ensure the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of the 'port-bay-river' river-sea intermodal transport channel, support the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, and contribute to the high-quality development of Yangpu's 'dual-direction dual-hub port.'"
