COSCO SHIPPING Group Held Social Responsibility Achievement Conference
On August 26, China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited (COSCO Shipping) held the "Sailing Together" Social Responsibility Achievements Release Conference at the China National Convention Center (Phase II) in Beijing. During the event, the group officially launched its "Sailing Together" responsibility brand and sustainable development report system. Additionally, COSCO Shipping and the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center jointly announced the "Panda Captain: Protecting Our Home" public welfare initiative.

The years 2016 to 2026 mark a decade of restructuring and leapfrog development for COSCO Shipping, as well as a period during which it has deeply integrated sustainable development and social responsibility into its top-level strategy and the entire production and operation chain. COSCO Shipping adheres to modern central state-owned enterprise governance standards to improve its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management system, establish a long-term social responsibility mechanism, and continuously fulfill its sustainable development mission in areas such as ensuring smooth industrial supply chains, promoting green shipping transformation, rural revitalization, and international public welfare cooperation, achieving significant practical results.
Launch of the "Sailing Together" Responsibility Brand
Inheriting the corporate spirit of "Sailing Together," COSCO Shipping officially launched the "Sailing Together" responsibility brand. "Sailing Together" not only embodies COSCO Shipping's spirit and values but also reflects its profound understanding and long-term practice of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. COSCO Shipping remains committed to working hand in hand with global customers, partners, and stakeholders to pursue a sustainable and long-term future together.
Introduction of the "1+N+M" Sustainable Development Report System
To support the implementation of the responsibility brand, COSCO Shipping has systematically developed a multi-layered and comprehensive "1+N+M" sustainable development report system, which fully and systematically presents the group's comprehensive responsibility practices and achievements.
"1" refers to the annual comprehensive sustainable development main report, which provides a panoramic overview of the group's overall strategic layout, green development, overseas responsibilities, employee care, public welfare, and supply chain governance. It serves as COSCO Shipping's annual comprehensive responsibility report to society. This year, the main report received a "five-star" excellent rating from the Expert Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility Report Rating in China.
"N" refers to specialized sustainable development reports in multiple fields. These specialized reports highlight COSCO Shipping's firm actions in achieving "dual carbon" goals, collaborating globally to address climate change, ensuring the stability of global trade, and jointly building overseas livelihoods. They clearly convey COSCO Shipping's determination to promote global sustainable development and uphold the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. This year, COSCO Shipping simultaneously released the 2025 Green Development Report and its first Overseas Social Responsibility Report.
"M" refers to sustainable development/social responsibility reports from domestic and overseas subsidiaries at various levels. In 2025, a total of 24 second-tier subsidiaries at home and abroad independently compiled and released 33 reports.
Launch of the "Panda Captain: Protecting Our Home" Public Welfare Initiative
At the release conference, COSCO Shipping and the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center jointly launched the "Panda Captain: Protecting Our Home" public welfare initiative. Through the COSCO Shipping Charity Foundation, COSCO Shipping provided funding to support panda conservation research projects at the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center. Additionally, by donating customized enrichment facilities to the panda center, creating educational platforms, and leveraging its global network to promote ecological concepts, COSCO Shipping is comprehensively supporting the protection of panda habitats and scientific research and education.
It is reported that this collaboration between COSCO Shipping and the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center to support panda conservation research will focus on two key areas: first, research on the rewilding of giant pandas, helping captive pandas learn to survive in the wild and integrate into the wild panda population; second, research on the therapeutic power of pandas, exploring how their ability to "heal the human spirit" can be applied in schools, workplaces, hospitals, and other real-life scenarios.
As a key central state-owned enterprise directly managed by the central government, COSCO Shipping remains committed to the nation's priorities, taking on political, economic, and social responsibilities as a whole. It integrates the concept of green and sustainable development into its global operations, continuously advancing the green and low-carbon transformation of shipping, proactively undertaking ecological responsibilities, actively participating in global biodiversity governance, and contributing to harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.

This public welfare collaboration marks another focus on panda conservation by COSCO Shipping following its 2021 donation project for the care of giant pandas in Finland. The "Panda Captain" initiative joins hands with China's national treasure, the giant panda, to jointly protect the beautiful homeland of green mountains and clear waters. Earlier, the first batch of customized enrichment facilities designed by COSCO Shipping had already arrived at the Ya'an base of the panda center in early August. These ship-shaped enrichment facilities, specifically designed for pandas, are modeled after the next-generation 24,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships designed and built by COSCO Shipping Group.
