Ferry Passenger, Cargo and Mail Smooth Hushan Rural Logistics "Microcirculation"
"In the past, my son used to buy daily necessities for me and had to take a ferry to deliver them. Now, the courier delivers them to the village service point, and I can pick them up with just a few steps." Grandma Qiu, who lives in Hangting Village, Chishi Township, Yunhe County, enjoys the convenience brought by the ferry service for passengers, goods, and mail.
Recently, the water ferry service for passengers, goods, and mail in Chishi Township, Yunhe County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, has achieved stable and regular operation. This water-based delivery route across Yunhe Lake is a vivid practice and a lively example of Yunhe's efforts to deepen government-enterprise postal integration, innovate water-based logistics models, and empower rural revitalization in mountainous areas.
Hangting Village and Shuangyuan Village in Chishi Township are adjacent to Yunhe Lake, with village residences scattered around the lake. Most of the permanent residents are elderly left behind. The unique water terrain forms a natural transportation barrier. In the past, there were only two ways to enter the villages: either take a ferry across the lake or detour through other townships and drive nearly two hours on winding mountain roads, resulting in high transportation costs. Previously, couriers could only deliver packages to the central station in Chishi Township, and villagers had to take a ferry to the opposite shore to pick them up or wait for village postal workers to deliver them periodically. The flow of goods in the Hushan area faced long-term "end-point blockages."
To address the logistics bottlenecks in lakeside villages, fill service gaps in remote rural areas, and narrow the urban-rural public service supply gap, Yunhe Post collaborated with local transportation service entities to restructure the urban-rural delivery framework and establish an integrated water-land delivery system. In January this year, Yunhe optimized and integrated delivery routes across the region, innovatively launching the ferry service for passengers, goods, and mail. Postal vehicles now take passenger ferries daily to directly reach Hangting and Shuangyuan villages, simultaneously delivering packages, newspapers, and letters, completely changing the old pattern of no direct delivery channels for lakeside villages.
The ferry service for passengers, goods, and mail adheres to the service concept of "water-land intermodal transport, resource sharing, unified network for passengers and goods, convenience for the people." It fully utilizes idle ferry passenger resources, achieving efficient use of public water-land resources and significantly improving the overall service efficiency of rural logistics.
On this basis, the service line has established a standardized operation mechanism of "fixed points, fixed boats, fixed schedules," implementing daily regular water-based delivery throughout the year. It has built an orderly, regulated, and stable delivery service system for the Hushan area. Additionally, it has established an efficient closed-loop process for water-based mail package handover, seamlessly connecting dock transfers, ferry transport, and village service point sign-offs. This ensures same-day delivery of mail to the village's comprehensive service point, with traceable logistics throughout the process and full-service monitoring. Standardized water-land operations and regulated delivery services guarantee that every package reaches the villagers' doorsteps.
Lan Longping, the postal worker responsible for deliveries in Chishi Township, has witnessed the iterative upgrades of the water-based postal route. "In the past, all packages for lakeside villages were placed at the township station, and elderly residents in the mountains found it very inconvenient to retrieve them." Now, after sorting packages and newspapers daily, he drives to the dock, takes the ferry to transport all mail and goods, and delivers them to the villages on time every day, prioritizing the postal needs of residents in remote lakeside areas.
Currently, Yunhe County has established 51 rural logistics comprehensive service points across the region. With the full implementation of the ferry delivery route in Chishi Township, courier logistics now cover almost all administrative villages in the county. Residents in remote lakeside villages can enjoy the same convenient logistics services as urban residents. Next, Yunhe Post will continue to deepen water-land postal collaboration, advance the integrated "ferry + mountainous land route" dual-track service for passengers, goods, and mail, solidify the achievements of the "courier-to-village" initiative, and further smooth the "last mile" of rural logistics in the Hushan area.
